    Location: Washington, DC - Foggy Bottom

    Schedule: Hybrid - 2 days per week in the office

    Position Type: Temporary to Hire

    Permanent Salary Range: $58,000–$63,000

    The Choice is managing an exciting temp-to-hire opportunity for a prominent environmental nonprofit organization in Washington, DC.

    This position will support a robust major and principal gifts fundraising program, working closely with senior gift officers on donor cultivation, stewardship, events, and fundraising initiatives. The Coordinator will also provide administrative support to two principal gift officers, including extensive calendar management, complex travel planning, and coordination of competing deadlines and priorities.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career development or nonprofit professional who is highly organized, polished, detail-oriented, and interested in gaining exposure to a sophisticated major gifts program.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of progressively responsible professional experience.
    • Previous fundraising, development, advancement, donor relations, or nonprofit experience is a plus.
    • Ability to manage calendars, travel arrangements, deadlines, and shifting priorities with professionalism and discretion.

    Responsibilities

    Fundraising & Event Support (65%)

    • Assist gift officers in preparing fundraising proposals, presentations, and online grant submissions for donors and prospects across a multi-state region and beyond.
    • Work closely with events and program staff to prepare for and execute special major donor events and salons, including developing and tracking guest lists, managing RSVPs, and providing on-site event support.
    • Collaborate with the larger Development team to provide planning and on-site support for Development/Individual Giving retreats, Board meetings, and other donor-related gatherings.
    • Handle sensitive donor information with discretion and document donor relationships and activity in the organization's CRM system.
    • Coordinate gift officer travel and work with internal and external travel teams to resolve logistical issues as they arise.
    • Provide backup executive support to senior Development leadership as needed.

    Communications (10%)

    • Serve as an initial point of contact for donors, volunteer leaders, program staff, and members of the public regarding donor inquiries and stewardship.
    • Direct and coordinate responses to donor inquiries received through the website, email, and phone.
    • Manage, schedule, and prepare correspondence and mass communications, including senior leadership emails, pledge reminders, and solicitation mailings on behalf of the Regional Philanthropy team.

    Financial Accountability (10%)

    • Track budget items, review bills and invoices, reconcile and submit monthly expenses, and prepare check and/or wire requests.
    • Prepare expense reports as needed.
    • Assist with compiling data and background information for the annual budget process.

    Systems & Processes (10%)

    • Represent the team in discussions regarding systems and internal processes.
    • Support the maintenance of shared platforms such as SharePoint and Microsoft Teams.
    • Train and assist gift officers with system processes and improvements.
    • Serve as a resource during the onboarding of new team members.
    • Work closely with gift administration colleagues to ensure proper handling of gift documentation and gift entry.

    Reporting (5%)

    • Coordinate with Development Systems and Reporting colleagues to prepare reports, calculate statistics, and interpret data using the CRM system.
    • Reconcile data and coordinate with staff to identify and resolve discrepancies.

    Candidates must be located in the DC, Maryland, or Virginia area and able to work onsite in Foggy Bottom two days per week.
