    BOOM LLC provides the backend finance, administrative and HR service functions for our network of nonprofit organizations and sponsored projects. Founded by leaders from 482Forward, the Michigan Education Justice Coalition and the Urban Core Collective, BOOM serves as a backoffice hub to meet the growing needs of base building organizations, allowing them to focus on programmatic and organizing priorities.

    Position Overview:

    In partnership with the HR department, the HR Generalist will provide essential human resources support, contributing to the effective management of our team by handling a variety of HR tasks, ensuring compliance and fostering a positive work environment. This role demands a highly organized, empathetic, and detail-oriented individual who is committed to our values of social, economic, and racial justice.

    Responsibilities:

    Support the effective execution of day-to-day HR operations for BOOM and partner organizations by providing the following:

    Staff Onboarding:

    • Facilitates BOOM new hire onboarding experience:
    • Prepares for, schedules, facilitates onboarding training, tracks participation and follows up as needed
    • Tracks and executes new hire retirement onboarding and administration
    • Tracks and executes benefits administration

    Partner Recruiting (JazzHR) Support:

    • Supports onboarding for Partner Organizations onto the recruiting platform (JazzHR)
    • Advises Partner Organizations with job description development
    • Reviews Partner Organizations job postings for compliance
    • Provides JazzHR support for bulk hiring

    HR Operations and Compliance:

    • Manage timesheet tracking and verification to ensure accurate payroll processing
    • Unemployment claim administration
    • Benefits Administration, including new hire, open enrollment, and qualifying life events
    • Bulk, large scale, onboarding, terminations and personnel changes
    • Provides ongoing HR and system support, through office hours, 1-1s, and support tickets

    Maintains performance evaluation support for partner organizations on payroll software (GoCo), along with other operational and compliance focused HR functions.

    Key Qualifications:

    The candidate should demonstrate a passion for breaking new ground to lead social change, and experience working within a values-driven organization is strongly preferred. Additional requirements are:

    • Committed to social, economic, and racial justice; mission-driven with cultural competency
    • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • 3+ years of HR experience, preferably in a non-profit environment
    • Strong understanding of employment laws and regulations
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
    • Strong organizational and time management skills; self-starter, meets deadlines, manages multiple tasks
    • Values-driven with a high degree of integrity and confidentiality and a good sense of humor
    • Familiarity in HRIS systems and Google Workspace; adaptable with various software platforms

    Employment Terms: This is a full-time, FLSA non-exempt position. Must be a Michigan resident. Remote position with limited travel. Reliable internet access is required. Salary range for this position is $60,000-70,000/year. Excellent benefits package, including health, dental, vision, prescription, disability, and life insurance.
