Supported Solution is a small, dynamic team of creative, outside‑the‑box thinkers who collaborate with government partners to provide Employment Services for individuals experiencing developmental disabilities in King County. An integral part of our work is supporting clients with their job search and career goals, helping them achieve independence at their new jobs through coaching and accommodation advocacy, and providing long‑term support for job retention. This work looks different for every client, based on their abilities and support needs, to reach successful employment that aligns with their goals.
The role of Employment Consultant is responsible for:
- Getting to know your clients through vocational assessments in the community and exploring career options that are appropriate and desirable to each individual.
- Performing job development activities, including networking with employers, marketing your client’s abilities, and introducing supported employment. In some cases, you will carve/create a job at a business for your client. Or in other cases, you may be supporting someone in a job search by completing applications and preparing for interviews. Each client is unique.
- Providing ongoing support to clients on the job. Once a client is placed, a coach will support them in navigating their new workplace, connecting with coworkers, building natural supports, and ensuring they understand their tasks and can be successful.
- Making regular and consistent case note entries into our cloud-based system, documenting the detailed services provided to each client on a day-to-day basis.
- Representing Supported Solution professionally in meetings with government partners, employers, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Perform the basic administrative activities outlined in each contract as it relates to reporting, record keeping, and billing.
The role is approximately 70% providing direct service in the community, and 30% administrative tasks completed remotely from a home office. This is not a fully remote job. The caseload for this position will be primarily in and around the South King County area.
You will be successful if you:
- Believe that everyone who wants to work can work
- Can self‑direct, manage your schedule, and complete action items specified in client contracts in a timely manner.
- Enjoy working remotely and with minimal supervision
- Have two or more years of successful marketing or sales experience (preferred)
- Have experience working with disabled individuals (preferred) and/or are open to learning about each client and see their skills and potential, regardless of disability or diagnosis
- Understand the basics of using cloud-based technology (Google Suite, cloud-based computing).
- Thrive in an environment that is constantly changing, looks different every day, and requires getting work done remotely in the community with clients and with minimal supervision.
