- Patient companionship
- Family respite
- Bereavement support
- Professional support
- Spiritual support
- Office support; filing, data entry, making copies and folders
- Newsletter support; editorial, poems, how-to’s
- Special events and holiday activities
Locations a volunteer might serve:
- The home of a patient
- A Nursing Facility, Assisted Living or a Personal Care Home
- A Hospital
- Our Sister Mary Hospice In Patient Center located at 5131 Medical Drive, Suite 310, SAT 78229
- Our central offices at 4241 Woodcock Dr., Suite A-100, SAT 78228
Requirements for Patient Care Companionship Volunteers
- Essential skills training is required by the state of Texas
- A valid driver’s license and current auto insurance
- Criminal background check
- TB test
- Drug screening
- Attend In Service trainings held throughout the year
- CHRISTUS VNA guidelines require that Hospice Volunteers who have experienced a death in their own family wait for a period of one year before returning to patient companionship or public relations and community activities.
Requirements for Office and Staff Support Volunteers:
- Orientation training
- Criminal background check
- Drug Screen
- A valid Driver’s License and current auto insurance
