Area 2 Farms

Area 2 Farms is a Public Benefit Corporation growing soil-based, USDA Certified Organic farms inside the neighborhoods they feed. Our mission is simple: Move the Farm. Not the Food. Instead of shipping produce across continents, we build local farms close enough to walk to, so families get fresh food the day it is picked.

We treat farms as neighborhood infrastructure, as essential as a school or a library. Each farm sells its full harvest within 10 miles through weekly CSA baskets, an on-site farm stand, and partnerships with local restaurants. Our farmers are neighbors, not distant suppliers, and they give residents direct access to nutritious food and a real connection to where it comes from.

Community is built into the work. Volunteers help fill soil bags, tend our worm composting bins, and spread the word, learning how their food is grown along the way. Through our Be a Farmer franchise, we train career-changing people to open and run farms of their own, turning a love of food into a livelihood and a lasting public good.
