    Descripción

    The Maryland Clean Energy Center (MCEC), is seeking a Loan Servicing Officer to support our clean energy finance programs, which provide debt financing to commercial and residential customers. The Loan Servicing Officer will manage all loan documentation and servicing tasks from the time of closing through the entire loan lifecycle.

    MCEC is a not-for-profit corporate instrumentality of state- created statutorily by the Maryland General Assembly. A Board of Directors, appointed by the Governor, provides oversight for the organization.

    MCEC serves as a statewide green bank with a mission to transform the energy economy in Maryland by increasing clean energy jobs, driving commercialization of technological innovations, and enabling consumer adoption of clean energy products and services. MCEC facilitates access to capital through leveraged or direct investment and operates financing programs targeted to serve various consumer audiences, and underserved communities. The Center provides specialized procurement and technical services to facilitate and expedite project implementation.

    The ideal candidate will understand this is a critical role to ensuring compliance, operational efficiency, and high-quality customer service within MCEC’s growing portfolio of clean energy loans.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Loan Onboarding & Documentation

    • Review and verify loan closing documentation for completeness and compliance with program requirements.
    • Ensure proper loan setup in servicing systems and coordinate the transition from origination to servicing.
    • Maintain accurate and organized digital records of loan agreements, disbursements, amendments, and collateral.

    Loan Servicing & Customer Support

    • Monitor loan performance, payment schedules, and compliance with financial covenants.
    • Process customer requests including payment inquiries, loan modifications, deferrals, and releases.
    • Serve as a point of contact for borrowers regarding servicing-related issues.

    Portfolio Monitoring

    • Track key dates such as payment due dates, maturity dates, and reporting requirements.
    • Prepare periodic servicing reports for internal stakeholders and external funders or regulators.
    • Identify and escalate delinquent accounts and coordinate with collections or legal as necessary.

    Compliance & Risk Management

    • Ensure adherence to all servicing standards and regulatory requirements.
    • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and responding to audit inquiries.
    • Assist in implementing servicing procedures for new programs or loan products.

    Collaboration & Program Support

    • Work closely with origination, underwriting, and program teams to ensure seamless customer experience.
    • Work closely with CFO on billing and reporting.
    • Provide feedback to improve loan documentation templates, servicing workflows, and borrower communications.
    • Support process improvements to enhance servicing efficiency and data accuracy.

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

      • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Public Administration, or a related field.
      • 3+ years of experience in loan servicing, portfolio management, or loan operations; experience with clean energy finance, C-PACE, green bank programs, or sustainable real estate lending (net-zero, passive house etc.) is a strong plus.
      • Knowledge of loan servicing software and CRM systems
      • Commitment to clean energy, climate action, and sustainable finance is preferred
      • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
      • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer service mindset.
      • Excel skills required, advanced Excel skills a plus
      • High attention to detail and accuracy
      • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
      • Strong organizational and time management skills
      • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity
      • Must be available to work during regular business hours
      • Collaborative work style
      • Ability to work effectively in a remote work environment.

    LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

    Possession of a valid driver's license meeting the requirements of Maryland law and other Maryland Clean Energy Center (MCEC) Policies.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Visual requirements for computer activities are essential. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is routinely required to talk, hear, sit, walk, bend, and stoop, reach with hands and arms, use hands and fingers

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    The candidate will be expected to be results oriented and perform responsibilities with an appropriate sense of urgency cognizant at all times of strict timeframes. Success in this position will depend on ability to work

    effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. MCEC generally allows for hybrid work environment. MCEC’s office is located in College Park, MD.
