Head Swim Coach MacArthur High School– Job Description

Position Title: Head Coach – Swim Team

Reports To: Athletic Director

Employment Type: Seasonal, Stipend-Based

Summary:

The Head Swim Coach leads all aspects of the high school swimming program including training, technique, competition, and team culture. The coach will organize practices, develop athletes of all experience levels, and coordinate swim meets in partnership with facility staff and athletic leadership.

Responsibilities:

• • Plan and conduct practices focused on skill, endurance, and technique
  • Organize meet entries and logistics for swim competitions
  • Monitor swimmer progress and provide individual feedback
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and disciplined team culture
  • Ensure compliance with all athletic and school district guidelines
  • Maintain communication with swimmers, parents, and staff
  • Manage equipment, swimwear, and safety expectations

Qualifications:

• • Previous coaching or competitive swimming experience required
  • Must be available to report to MacArthur High School by 4:00 PM on weekdays
  • Must pass the DCPS Athletic Clearance Process, including fingerprinting and background checks
  • Lifeguard and CPR/AED Certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • DCPS Coaching Certification (or ability to complete upon hire)
