ABOUT THE ROLE
This position is tasked with development of the City website and other related applications. Reporting to the Web Manager and working primarily with other members of the Web Team, the ideal candidate will be a developer with an entry or intermediate level of technical expertise in some or all aspects of website development and a willingness to learn and grow their skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The specific duties of the position include but are not limited to the following:
- Work with members of the Web Team to maintain and enhance the City’s website to meet the communication and business needs of City departments while maintaining an appealing, accessible, and user-friendly experience for site visitors
- Transform visual designs from our design team to rich, functional web experiences
- Troubleshoot and diagnose errors with components on the website
- Work with other team members in the creation and maintenance of technical and end-user documentation
- Other duties as required
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Education & Experience
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience required
- 2+ years of experience in front-end website development
- 1+ years of experience developing websites utilizing Sitecore or another web-based content management system
- Key Competencies
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Basic project management skills
- Must be highly motivated, organized, and able to work effectively with minimal supervision
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Demonstrated ability with front-end website development and relevant technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, etc.)
- Understanding of web accessibility standards including WCAG 2.1 and experience in developing compliant websites
- Experience with C# or other object-oriented programming languages and concepts or a demonstrated understanding of object-oriented concepts and design patterns
- Experience working with Sitecore or other web-based content management systems a plus
- Excellent interpersonal communications skills and an ability to explain complicated concepts to audiences of all skill levels
- Able to work independently or as part of a larger team
- Able to prioritize work and meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer. Answer telephones and maintain multiple files. Must read and analyze large quantities of information. Must have sufficient mobility to get back and forth from office to offsite meetings.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is conducted primarily in an office environment with fluorescent lighting, air conditioning, computers, and other standard office equipment, but also involves meetings in other offices or facilities. This position may be eligible for hybrid work under the City's new Telework Policy, depending on operational needs.
