Cambria Heights, Queens, New York
Looking for a rewarding career beyond bedside nursing?
The Institute for Health Professions at Cambria Heights (IHPCH), a New York City public high school specializing in healthcare career education, is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) with a bachelor's degree to join our Health Sciences faculty.
No prior teaching experience is required. If you're passionate about nursing, enjoy mentoring others, and want to make a lasting impact, we'll help qualified candidates become certified to teach through the New York State Transitional A Career and Technical Education (CTE) certification pathway.
You're not the first to make this career change. Three members of our Health Sciences faculty—including two Registered Nurses and one pharmacist—left clinical practice to become educators. They understand the transition firsthand and are eager to support a new colleague making the same journey.
This position allows you to continue using your clinical expertise while enjoying the work-life balance of the New York City public school calendar—including evenings, weekends, holidays, and summers off.

As a member of our Health Sciences team, you will:
- Teach Health Sciences coursework that prepares students for careers in healthcare.
- Prepare students for the New York State Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification examination.
- Supervise students during clinical rotations at an affiliated nursing home.
- Create engaging lessons using simulations, laboratory activities, and authentic patient-care scenarios.
- Coach students in professionalism, communication, ethics, teamwork, and patient care.
- Collaborate with educators and healthcare partners to provide meaningful career-connected learning experiences.
- Inspire students to pursue careers that make a difference in their communities.
