The Baltimore City Health Department Division of Aging and Care Services offers a variety of services and initiatives to improve the lives of seniors in Baltimore, including health evaluation, personal care, transportation and volunteer opportunities. The Division of Aging & Care Services serves as the local Area Agency on Aging (AAA)/Maryland Access Point (MAP) and allows the organization to receive funds from the federal Older Americans Act to coordinate and assure an adequate service delivery system. CARE's structure includes twenty-four (24) commissioners, eighteen (18) of whom are appointed by the Mayor and six (6) of whom are ex-officio members, who serve to advise and assist CARE in its overall mission and direction. Commissioners advise and work with the Executive Director to promote agency efficiency and coordinate the delivery of programs and services for the elderly in Baltimore City.
