    About Us:

    Our organization aims to offer community building and foster equitable opportunities for all living and working across Greater Birmingham, AL. Our commitment, as an AmeriCorps VISTA program, is to engage in and find sustainable solutions for the root causes of poverty that will enable communities to thrive.

    Mission:

    Our mission is to build stronger communities in the Greater Birmingham area through devoted volunteers by engaging them in impactful service projects. In everything we do, we work to alleviate poverty, improve educational outcomes, support economic development, and increase overall quality of life for underserved populations.

    Whom We Serve:

    Our services reach out to the underserved and marginalized communities in the Greater Birmingham area. We therefore work with low-income families, at-risk youth, and other vulnerable populations to address their needs and concerns. This we do by providing them with resources, support, and opportunities for long-term successful living.

    What We Do:

    AmeriCorps VISTA members perform various activities that involve:

    • Designing and implementing programs responding to identified community needs.
    • Building the capacity of local nonprofits and community organizations.
    • Assisting in conducting community outreach and engagement efforts.
    • Supporting educational and economic development efforts.
    • Building new and expanding resources to address poverty-related issues.

    Term of Service: The term of service for AmeriCorps VISTA members placed with our organization is one year. Within this time, members can make a substantial difference in the community while building on their nonprofit and community service career objectives.

    Joining our team means being a part of a collaborative community of professionals working towards measurable change in the lives of those we serve throughout Greater Birmingham. Working together, we can realize positive change and build a community that is equitable and thriving for all.
