Tomball Community Library

  • Misión

Harris County Public Library provides information and resources to enrich lives and strengthen communities through innovative services within and beyond our walls.

    Acerca de

The library is a partnership between Lone Star College and Harris County. We present free programs for all ages, including computer classes, book clubs, story times, cultural celebrations, and an annual summer reading program. We partner with the College, schools, businesses, and organizations to provide services within and beyond our walls.

    History

The Tomball Library dates back to the 1920s when it consisted of one bookcase of 200 books in the old Post Office building on Main Street. Sadly, this service ended during the Great Depression. During World War II, the County bookmobile began making stops on Main Street every three weeks. Soon after, a Friends of the Library group was formed to raise money to rent space at 1010 West Main for a real library. As Tomball grew, the library moved to successively larger spaces, first at 500 Elm Street in 1965, then to a space on James Street in 1972. On January 20, 2005, the Lone Star College-Tomball Community Library officially opened its doors to the public.
