Fairfax Medical Reserve Corps

Acerca de

The Fairfax Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) augments the Fairfax County Health Department (FCHD) to prepare for and respond to public health emergencies, ranging from pandemics to bioterrorism and natural and man-made disasters. MRC volunteers also support FCHD efforts to increase public health readiness through education and outreach activities that improve resident’s all-hazard preparedness. Core training lasts roughly 10 hours, some of which is available online. All volunteers are asked to participate in at least one drill or exercise per year thereafter to maintain active status and readiness. The Fairfax MRC also provides support to FCHD with preparedness training and education offered to both volunteers and in the larger community. The Fairfax MRC regularly offers instruction for general and role specific training; this includes free FEMA courses, CPR/AED certification and several hands-on field exercises throughout the year.
