Mission

The mission of the Flagstaff City-Coconino County Public Library is to inspire learning, enrich lives, and strengthen community.

Collection

The public library system serves a combined population of approximately 116,000 adults and youth. The library collection includes: books, magazines and other periodicals, newspapers, CDs, DVDs, as well as many other materials, held at the Downtown Library, East Flagstaff Community Library, County Bookmobile, and PALSmobile. There are 40,901 registered cardholders.

Community

Located at 7,000 feet elevation, Flagstaff is the county seat and the regional center of northern Arizona. Flagstaff is a community rich with cultural diversity and beauty. It is home to Northern Arizona University, Coconino Community College, Lowell Observatory, where the planet Pluto was discovered, and the Museum of Northern Arizona. Nearby scenic attractions include: Grand Canyon National Park, Sunset Crater, Wupatki, and Walnut Canyon National Monuments, and the Arboretum at Flagstaff. The area also borders the Navajo and Hopi Indian Reservations. Major sources of employment are tourism, government, and education.
