Governor's Energy Intern Program

Acerca de

In 2010 Governor Brian Schweitzer created the Governor’s Energy Intern Program that connects Montana’s top students with work experiences in the state’s booming energy sector. In the program’s first year, interns working with Montana schools, businesses, and non-profits were able to work on projects ranging from renewable energy generation to commercial scale energy conservation projects. By focusing on financially disadvantaged college students and providing opportunities for hosts that may otherwise be unable to support projects, the Energy Intern program boosts Montana’s economy.

The program is funded by a US Department of Education grant, and is conducted by the Governor’s Office of Community Service. The Governor’s Office of Economic Development, and the Montana Department of Commerce’s Energy Promotion and Development Division have become partners to maximize the program’s reach in the private sector and provide a wide spectrum of opportunities for interns.
