The Controller is an elected citywide official who serves as Los Angeles's auditor and general accountant. Often described as "the taxpayers' watchdog," the Controller oversees a team responsible for conducting independent audits, managing the City's payroll and disbursements, preparing reports on the City’s finances, providing information about the City's finances and operations online—and focusing on modernization, management and metrics.
