The Saco River Corridor Commission was created in the early 1970’s by the State of Maine legislature to protect the Saco, Ossipee, and Little Ossipee Rivers and their adjacent wetlands and lands from adverse impacts from intensive or poorly planned development. The Commission consists of one member and one alternate member from each municipality with land or a body of water within the Saco River Corridor. The Commission meets at least eight times per year to administer and enforce a set of laws known as the Saco River Corridor Act, 38 M.R.S. §§951-969, and regulations adopted under that Act.
