Media Arts Studio

CPS is the Cambridge Public Schools in Cambridge MA

CEA (Cambridge Educational Access) is a school department knows as Media Arts. We receive funding from the school department and city through a cable license agreement with Comcast. We live in the Media Arts Studio which is directly across the street from the Cambridge Rindge and Latin School. Cable channels 98 and 99 are broadcast from the Media Arts Studio and we distribute many of our student productions to the web. We have a partnership with RSTA (Rindge School of Technical Arts) which is another department in CPS and offer courses towards a trade certification in broadcast production.

We offer courses during the day and several after school clubs and a work-study program to early high school students. Students may choose media making courses in Digital Film, Media Journalism, and Music Production, from introductory through advanced multi-media production and distribution. Courses offer theory, production and distribution skill development In a highly collaborative environment. 

After School Clubs

• Animation: Create your own animations and video art. Experiment with computer animation software, and create projects using hand drawing and stop-motion animation.
• Audio: Learn to record your own music, podcasts, and tracks. Use ProTools, GarageBand, and shareware to bring your audio ideas to life.
• Media Journalism: Help produce Youth View Cambridge (YVC), a student news magazine that combines current events with local and school news.

We often employ grad students and professionals part time as production assistants, and production coordinators.
