Ada County Guardianship Monitoring Program

  • Misión

The Guardianship Monitoring Program serves as the "eyes and ears" of the Court by collecting and evaluating information about the well-being of a protected person, thus allowing the court to protect the interests of the ward and promote confidence in the judicial process.

    Acerca de

When a person does not have the understanding to make their own decisions or a child's parents cannot care for them, another person can apply to be their legal 'Guardian’. It is the Guardian’s job is to watch over that person (the ward) and make sure that they are properly taken care of.

In 1979 Idaho Statute 15.5.419 was implemented, requiring guardians to file an annual report about the status and condition of a ward. In 1995, the number of open cases had increased to 153, so The Ada County Guardianship Monitoring Program (GMP) was established to watch over them. At that time, it consisted of one employee.

Now the GMP has of a team of three employees that supervise over 2,300 cases. As our case load increases, we rely more and more upon the assistance of volunteers in order to serve our community.
