    The Alexandria Domestic Violence Program is dedicated to fostering a healthy community through advocacy, education, and prevention. Our program is committed to empowering all those affected by violence and to providing inclusive services, while respecting diversity of race, gender, ethnicity, national origin, age, disability, religion, sexual orientation, and gender identity or expression.

    The Domestic Violence Program (DVP) is a 24-hour, 7 day a week, self-help program of the Department of Community and Human Services. The DVP provides emergency shelter, 24-hour hotline, outreach counseling, court advocacy, women's support groups in English and Spanish, and a children's counseling program. The shelter offers emergency housing, food and emotional support in a safe, comfortable house licensed to accommodate 18 people. We are looking for volunteers to work weekend, evenings, overnights and holidays staffing our hotline.
