    Job Title: Program Staff (Part-Time)

    Compensation: $22/hour

    Schedule: Up to 25 hours/week | Monday–Friday, 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM (Monthly weekend field trips)

    About the Role

    We are seeking dedicated and energetic Program Staff members to join our team and support middle school aged youth in a dynamic, trauma-informed, out-of-school time environment. This role is ideal for someone passionate about youth development, creative programming, and fostering a safe, supportive space for young people to grow and thrive.

    Key Responsibilities

    Youth Engagement & Supervision

    • Provide active supervision of youth during program hours, transitions, and field trips.
    • Create and lead engaging enrichment activities including creative arts, games, life skills, wellness, music, and academic support.
    • Use trauma-informed tools to help kids regulate emotions, solve peer conflicts, and feel safe.
    • Set the tone with fairness, empathy, and structure.
    • Build meaningful relationships with youth through consistent mentorship, presence, and kindness.
    • Address behavioral issues using trauma-informed practices, including emotional regulation and conflict resolution strategies.
    • Offer individualized support to youth as needed.
    • Have fun!

    Safety & Behavior Management

    • Uphold program policies and ensure a safe, respectful environment for all participants.
    • Report and document incidents or concerns in a timely and thorough manner.
    • Enforce program guidelines with a balance of fairness, compassion, and consistency

    Operational Support

    • Set up and clean up activity spaces, materials, and equipment before and after sessions.
    • Prepare and serve snacks/meals in compliance with health and safety standards.
    • Manage daily check-in/check-out procedures and maintain accurate attendance records.
    • Support the Program Director with distributing and collecting permission slips and forms.
    • Coordinate schedules and provide on-site support for teaching artists, volunteers, and consultants.
    • Attend weekly staff meetings and participate in ongoing training in trauma-informed care and youth development.

    Qualifications

    • Experience working with youth in afterschool, camp, or educational settings
    • Understanding of or willingness to learn trauma-informed practices.
    • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
    • Flexibility, reliability, and a genuine passion for supporting young people.
    • Must pass a background check and any required clearances.

    Additional Information

    This position reports to the Program Director and Executive Director and may include other duties as assigned to support program operations and youth success.
