Descripción
The Development Director is responsible for designing and implementing comprehensive fundraising strategies to ensure long-term sustainability of the organization. The role requires both strategic visioning and hands-on execution. The Development Director will engage staff and board to establish philanthropy as an organizational priority and communicate the Center’s impact to stakeholders and the community.
General Responsibilities
- Oversee annual calendar of fundraising activities including in-person events, annual fund appeals, and corporate sponsorships
- Cultivate and steward relationships with individual donors, foundations, businesses and community partners
- Manage donor database, ensuring accuracy of constituent records and timely gift entry/acknowledgement
- Supervise one Development Assistant, including delegating tasks, helping to manage time, giving feedback, and dedicating time for check-ins on a weekly, monthly, and semi-annual basis
- Collaborate on strategic marketing and communication plans to promote events and raise awareness about programs
- Manage budgets for fundraising activities while tracking progress toward goals
- Bolster the Center’s major giving and planned giving programs
- Identify grant opportunities, prepare and submit proposals and reports, and track deadlines
- Collaborate on capital campaigns as needed
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience leading successful fundraising programs
- Demonstrated success in event planning and project management
- Familiarity with budgeting processes, data collection techniques, and donor management systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and event management skills
- Knowledge of planned giving programs and major gift solicitation strategies strongly preferred
- Experience leading a small team
Educational Development
- Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings
- Attend professional development opportunities such as workshops, conferences, courses, and other educational activities (some in evening or weekend hours) to improve skills and update knowledge of current professional practices
- Fulfill a minimum of 15 hours of professional development per year
