The Arts Education Manager is responsible for leading Creative Suitland’s arts education and youth development programs, creating pathways for young people to explore creativity, build skills, and connect with their communities. Through strong program management, staff supervision, partnership development, and community engagement, this role ensures that students have access to high-quality arts learning experiences that foster artistic expression, academic success, career exploration, and personal growth. The Manager serves as a key ambassador for Creative Suitland, helping to strengthen relationships with schools, families, artists, and community partners while advancing the organization’s strategic goals.
Essential Duties:
Program Leadership and Student Recruitment
- Supervises groups of elementary, middle, and high School students and ensures the safety of all students enrolled
- Provides daily onsite management to a portfolio of program sites in designated communities
- Leads staff and contractors in daily execution of program activities
- Ensures implementation of program components through collaborative planning efforts with both internal and external partners
- Maintains partnerships with teachers, administrators, and other youth serving organizations, in effort to integrate programing and enrichment activities into school sites
- Supports program teams to plan and implement after school clubs, camps, and youth events
- Leads enrichment sessions and activities with groups of youth as needed
- Devises strategies to recruit and enroll students
- Leads registration and student recruitment efforts
Youth, Family, Community Engagement
- Ensures that youth and family voice is embedded throughout program component areas
- Works cross-functionally with other managers to support youth matriculation between elementary, middle, and high school programming
- Serves on planning workgroups, committees, and special initiatives with other managers within the organization
- Attends PTA meetings and maintains a visible presence in the schools, community, and out-of-school time field at-large
- Coordinates an annual schedule of community events for teams to attend and offer engaging outreach activities
Data Management, Administrative/Other
- Streamlines systems (i.e., registration) to maximize efficiency and enhance participant experience
- Ensures necessary program data is available to support grant reporting to relevant funders
- Analyzes participant and enrollment data for purposes of reporting, strategic recruiting, and long-term impact
- Works with Senior Director to implement monitoring and program evaluation activities
- Provides necessary information to ensure website is current regarding program
- Works with Senior Director to ensure program budget is managed and all expenses fall within the approved budget
- Assists with other duties, as needed
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with arts education focus, social work, child development, or related areas
- At least, two years’ prior experience successfully executing project management related responsibilities
- Tech-savvy as evidenced by experience with online systems (databases, online evaluation tools)
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to communicate effectively including sensitivity for different audiences and cultural contexts
- Excellent writing, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) software
Physical and Availability Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be mobile in a school, office, and various field trip environments and able to use standard office equipment
- Must be willing and able to travel to site location(s) where children are served
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- This position requires occasional work on nights and weekends
