Fort Greene Park Conservancy (FGPC) seeks an experienced, early-career environmental education consultant to act as an Educator with our Green Team. The consultant will play an important role in the growth of an exciting teen environmental education program at Fort Greene Park, now in its fourth year. The Educator will work closely with the Environmental Programs Manager, who is leading the program, Green Team alumni, teens that have returned to support new core members, and the Green Team Advisory Committee—a group of professionals committed to the success of the Green Team program.

Qualified consultants will have at least one year of experience from internships, fellowships, or other applicable work experience in environmental education, farm and/or garden education, or park garden volunteer leadership, as well as experience working with teens and young adults. Candidates should also have literacy in environmental and/or climate justice issues, sustainability, or ecology, and a strong understanding of the importance of urban green spaces. Candidates must commit to approaching their consultancy through a DEI lens, prioritizing FGPC’s values and mission in their work.

About the Fort Greene Park Conservancy: The Fort Greene Park Conservancy (FGPC), in partnership with the City of New York and the community, enhances Fort Greene Park’s function as one of Brooklyn’s primary green spaces and strengthens the culturally diverse Fort Greene community through programming and park conservation efforts. FGPC’s free summer programs attract over 20,000 attendees per year with a diverse portfolio of events, including music festivals, kids concerts, historic walking tours, horticultural volunteer events, and other community programming.

Depending on the mutually agreed upon scope of services, we anticipate the consultant providing 20-28 hours of consulting per week (not accounting for weeks with DOE holidays), indoors, outdoors, and remotely.
