About De La Gente
De La Gente (DLG) generates economic opportunities for small scale farmers in Guatemala. While we are based and have offices in La Antigua Guatemala, our work extends to nine partner cooperatives located in Sacatepéquez, Sololá, San Marcos, Huehuetenango, and Quetzaltenango with which we commercialize coffee, offer technical assistance, and provide financing opportunities.
Job Description
The Communications Coordinator works with the Marketing and Communications Manager to ensure that DLG’s communications are clear, consistent, and aligned with the organization’s brand. This role is part of the organization’s coordination-level positions and is responsible for developing communication materials across print and digital channels, managing blog content, executing email marketing campaigns for all DLG audiences, and supporting fundraising, coffee, tourism, and institutional communications. The Communications Coordinator helps translate marketing and organizational strategies into engaging visual and written communications that strengthen DLG’s relationships with customers, donors, partners, and other stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Develop and produce high-quality communication materials, including brochures, flyers, presentations, reports, sales collateral, fundraising materials, and other print and digital assets that support the organization's programs and initiatives.
- Manage and maintain blog content by creating project reports, updates and news, and optimize for SEO best practices.
- Design and execute email marketing campaigns for coffee, tourism, immersion experiences, fundraising, and institutional communications, ensuring consistent messaging and audience engagement.
- Create visual assets that strengthen DLG's brand identity, including product packaging materials, promotional graphics, producer cards, event materials, and other communication resources.
- Develop communication materials that support fundraising initiatives, donor engagement, and seasonal campaigns, collaborating with internal teams to ensure timely and effective execution.
- Support the preparation and design of the organization's annual impact report by developing layouts, graphics, and visual storytelling elements that effectively communicate organizational results and impact.
- Coordinate the production of communication materials for coffee sales, community tourism, immersion experiences, and other organizational programs, ensuring consistency across all channels and audiences.
- Maintain brand consistency across all communication materials by applying the organization's visual identity, messaging standards, and communication guidelines.
- Manage the organization's library of communication assets, including templates, graphics, photographs, marketing collateral, and brand resources, ensuring materials remain organized, current, and accessible.
- Support the planning and coordination of institutional events by developing communication materials, managing promotional assets, coordinating event branding, and assisting with logistics and communications before, during, and after events.
- Report to Marketing and Communications Manager.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of professional experience in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related role.
- Demonstrated experience creating high-quality print and digital communication materials.
- Experience managing content in Squarespace is highly desirable.
- Experience developing and executing email marketing campaigns using platforms such as Mailchimp or similar tools.
- Strong graphic design skills with proficiency in Canva.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish, with the ability to adapt messaging for different audiences.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Experience supporting fundraising, nonprofit communications, or mission-driven organizations is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of branding principles and the ability to maintain consistent visual and written communications across multiple channels.
- Basic understanding of SEO principles and website content optimization is preferred.
- Experience coordinating communication efforts for events, media outreach, or public relations activities is an asset.
