Mengo Hospital Partners (MHP) is a U.S. based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting sustainable, high quality pediatric and outpatient healthcare at Mengo Hospital in Kampala, Uganda. MHP is leading a transformational campaign to expand pediatric facilities and strengthen healthcare for generations of Ugandan children and families.

Position Overview

MHP seeks an experienced development professional to serve as Capital Campaign Consultant on a part-time consulting basis, with a scope dedicated entirely to the capital campaign for the new Pediatric and Outpatient Building. The Capital Campaign Consultant will work closely with the Executive Director to build the campaign infrastructure, prospect pipeline, and lead donor relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop a written capital campaign plan covering the leadership phase and spring 2027 public launch, with gift range targets, solicitation timelines, and phased milestones
• Build and manage a qualified pipeline of campaign lead gift prospects, including diaspora leaders, healthcare philanthropists, prospective funders, and long standing MHP supporters
• Ensures that campaign financial goals are met
• Prepare campaign briefing materials, solicitation proposals, and follow up correspondence
• Develop campaign case materials, donor communications, and progress reporting
• Maintain campaign prospect records and pledge tracking using MHP systems
• Participate in weekly meetings with the Executive Director with written campaign progress reports during each session

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and seven or more years of nonprofit fundraising experience, including major gifts and capital campaign work
• Demonstrated success securing five and six figure campaign commitments
• Experience supporting a capital campaign in a feasibility, planning, or active phase
• Excellent writing skills and ability to translate complex detail into compelling campaign narratives
• Comfort working independently and remotely in a small organization with limited infrastructure
• Interest in global health, pediatric care, or international development

Engagement Terms

Part-time 20 hours per week, flexible and remote. Compensation: $50 per hour. Independent contractor (1099). Reports to Executive Director.
