    Descripción

    The Executive Director is the full-time Chief Executive Officer of the Bread Line. The Executive Director serves as an ex-officio member of the Board of Directors, reports to the Board of Directors & is responsible for the Bread Line’s success in its mission of “feeding people & affirming lives.” In supporting staff, ensuring financial solvency, organizational authenticity & advocating for the inclusive values that drive this work, the Executive Director’s roles & responsibilities are dynamic & ever-evolving.

    Compensation: $65,000 annually; dependent on experience; exempt

    Benefits: generous & discretionary personal leave (up to 80/hrs of annually accrued sick leave & up to 160/hrs of annually accrued vacation), eight paid holidays, bi-weekly wellness stipend

    The following responsibilities are foundational to the Executive Director's role. How these obligations are fulfilled will change as the Bread Line continues to grow.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Organizational development & strategy:

    1. Align Bread Line staff & volunteers through mission-motivated leadership
    2. Cultivate strong relationships with the Board of Directors, fostering open communication about financial, programmatic & performance goals
    3. Build & maintain strategic partnerships with funders & stakeholders
    4. Establish healthy working relationships & cooperative agreements with other organizations
    5. Engage actively with statewide peer coalitions
    6. Advocate for anti-poverty legislative policies

    Staff Relations:

    1. Manage the recruitment, employment & release of all staff & volunteers
    2. Cover for program staff, as needed
    3. Ensure that job descriptions are current & that regular performance evaluations are conducted
    4. Encourage staff & volunteer development
    5. Maintain a culture that attracts & keeps diverse staff of the highest caliber
    6. Oversee all programs with senior staff
    7. Measure excellence & effectiveness of all programs
    8. Support staff in developing new programs & carrying out their existing programs

    Finance & Operations:

    1. Grow short & long term financial sustainability through cultivating individual/corporate donations, local earned income opportunities & mission-focused grants
    2. Adhere to rigorous internal financial controls
    3. Monitor & maintain budgets across all programs
    4. Work closely with accountants for payroll, timely bill payments & grant reporting
    5. Develop & maintain standardized policies & procedures for day-to-day operations
    6. Build & maintain healthy, transparent relationships with a diversity of funders
    7. Appropriately maintain building, property & all equipment

    Fundraising:

    1. Oversee earned income projects & fundraising activities
    2. Build & maintain operational reserve
    3. Plan & implement annual major fundraiser
    4. Grant research, writing, management & reporting
    5. Support staff & board fundraisers
    6. Attend all fundraisers

    Communications:

    1. Keep website & social media secure with up to date content
    2. Publish monthly newsletters reflecting current Bread Line events
    3. Represent the Bread Line’s perspective to other agencies, organizations & the public
    4. Speak with donors, volunteers, professional peers & community members
    5. Maintain a strong presence in statewide media
    6. Create robust annual reports for public distribution

    Board Relations:

    1. Act as liaison between staff & board
    2. Provide the board with monthly reports & other information they need for governance
    3. Coordinate with Executive Officers in agenda setting for monthly board meetings
    4. Coordinate with committee leads in agenda setting for monthly committee meetings
    5. Plan & implement annual board retreat
    6. Attend board & committee meetings as well as annual retreat
    7. Prepare annual budget with Treasurer for board approval
    8. Maintain board calendar & email

    Organizational Compliance:

    1. Ensure that all annual certificates, licenses, registrations & records remain current
    2. Maintain official records & documents, ensuring compliance with all legal regulations
    3. Complete all grant reporting before due dates
    4. Coordinate with accountants & CPA to file taxes on time

    Required Skills:

    • Fluent with or able to learn Microsoft Office Software, Google Drive, Canva, WordPress (website management) & basic social media platforms (FB, IG, etc)
    • Open heart & mind

    IDEAL CANDIDATE IS:

    A persuasive communicator with excellent interpersonal skills & the energy to be an effective spokesperson, community organizer & fundraiser. Able to read, understand & communicate nonprofit financial documents. Financially savvy & politically astute with a demonstrated understanding of the socio-economic causes of food insecurity. Committed to the professional development of self & staff. A passionate, consistent, trustworthy, hands-on leader.
