Assistant Teacher, After-School classes for Pre-K students

Overview: Join our dynamic team as an assistant in our after-school program and make a positive impact on the lives of children in our community. We are seeking enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about education and have experience working with elementary school-aged students.

Responsibilities:

1. Supervise and Support Students: Ensure the safety and well-being of all students during program hours. Provide guidance and encouragement to help students succeed and build confidence.
2. Maintain Communication: Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and school staff regarding student progress/behavior.
3. Create a Positive Learning Environment: Foster a supportive and inclusive atmosphere where students feel comfortable and motivated to learn and explore new activities.

Requirements:

• Experience working with children in an educational or recreational setting preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in education, child development, or related fields is a plus.

Schedule:

• Part-time position, Mondays-Wednesdays and Fridays from 2:15 PM to 5:15 PM during the school year. THIS POSITION IS PERFECT FOR STUDENTS!
• Additional hours may be available during school holidays.

116Kids is an after-school program for all students in grades preK-5th grade at PS116 in midtown Manhattan. We provide a fun, safe space of inclusion, respect, and belonging for all of our students. Our staff all have experience with and a love for working with children. Some are teachers at PS116, or studying to become teachers. Others are professional visual artists, actors, musicians, and dancers. With 116Kids, parents can be confident that their children are learning and playing in a space where they are seen, heard, and valued after-school every day that PS116 is in session.
