Mass NOW is seeking a passionate, organized, and people-centered Membership & Advocacy Coordinator to help grow our movement and strengthen our advocacy efforts across Massachusetts.

The Massachusetts Chapter of the National Organization for Women (Mass NOW) is a multi-issue, multi-strategy feminist organization working to advance gender equity in the Commonwealth. The primary responsibilities of the Membership and Advocacy Coordinator include: communicating Mass NOW’s programming and actions to our community, engaging activists in their legislative and educational work and recruiting more activists to join Mass NOW.

About the Organization: For nearly 60 years Mass NOW has been one of the leading multi-issue, multi-strategy feminist organizations in the Commonwealth. Today, we are a member-led grassroots organization and we thrive on the support of our members, supporters, and allies. We are made up of three distinct branches: the Mass NOW Inc., Foundation, and PAC. The Mass NOW Foundation convenes and educates our feminist community through innovative, community-driven programming. In 2019 Mass NOW created the MA Menstrual Equity Coalition, organizing to end period poverty statewide.

    Position Summary

This position combines grassroots organizing with membership engagement. Approximately 75% of the role focuses on building and supporting Mass NOW’s membership, volunteers, and local chapters through outreach, events, communications, and relationship building. The remaining 25% is dedicated to leading and coordinating the Massachusetts Menstrual Equity Coalition, advancing statewide advocacy and legislative priorities.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys connecting with people, building community, organizing campaigns, and translating passion into action.

    • Organize coalition meetings and maintain communication among coalition partners.
    • Support advocacy efforts related to menstrual equity legislation and policy.
    • Develop advocacy materials, action alerts, and educational resources.
    • Represent Mass NOW in coalition meetings and public events as appropriate.
    • Build relationships with advocacy organizations, legislators, and community stakeholders.
    • Track legislative developments related to menstrual equity and communicate updates to coalition members.

    Qualifications

We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic about organizing and eager to learn. Candidates who meet many—but not necessarily all—of these qualifications are encouraged to apply.

    Preferred qualifications include:

    • Experience with community organizing, advocacy, volunteer management, or nonprofit work.
    • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication.
    • Experience planning meetings or events.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects independently.
    • Comfort using databases, spreadsheets, and common office software.
