    RAB is seeking a Part-Time Executive Director (ED) who will build upon our recent successes and guide us through our new period of growth. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED will be responsible for the financial, programmatic, and operational management of RAB. In addition, the ED will receive professional development via non-profit leadership mentoring, webinars, and a wide range of resources through Spur Local (formerly the Catalogue for Philanthropy.) As RAB continues to grow and fundraise, we anticipate that the ED may have the opportunity to increase hours to full-time and to hire additional staff.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    Strategic Planning & Board Support

    • Lead, strategize, and execute to effectuate each stage of our organization’s development
    • Provide periodic review of mission/vision/values and development of new strategic plans, as needed
    • Prepare for, attend and facilitate board meetings
    • Review and update policies, as needed
    • Ensure organizational compliance with local and state regulatory bodies (e.g., Maryland non-profit registration)
    • Provide short written progress report on a monthly basis. Each report must outline the activities undertaken, progress against project milestones, challenges encountered, and planned actions for the following month. The report shall be submitted no later than the last Friday of each month.

    Financial Planning & Oversight

    In partnership with the Board Chair and Treasurer:

    • Create and track annual budget, ensuring sustainability
    • Meet monthly with bookkeeper to review account reconciliations and take corrective action when needed
    • Review and present financial reports to the Board
    • Work with bookkeeper and accountant to prepare and file annual 990

    Program Management

    • Provide oversight
    • Establish and maintain external partnerships
    • Collaborate with Research Fellows to revise materials, update curriculum website, train teachers, etc.
    • Attend and facilitate Advisory Council meetings, 2-3 times annually (group of volunteers/supporters/advocates)
    • Facilitate program publication process

    Development & Communications

    • Develop and oversee overall fundraising strategy
    • Plan and execute annual May Fundraiser and Giving Tuesday/year-end campaign
    • Collaborate on grant writing process with Research Fellows
    • Develop and implement a communications strategy to sustain and grow donor and community base: donor stewardship, monthly newsletter, social media posts, blog posts, etc.
    • Create/review marketing materials
    • Review/update profiles on charity review sites (e.g., Charity Navigator)

    Day-to-Day Operations

    • Provide oversight and support for all operational/administrative needs
    • Maintain and update website (WordPress)
    • Purchase and track inventory
    • Depending on location, check PO Box and deposit checks

    This position begins at 15 hours/week at $45/hour with a flexible schedule. Most meetings will occur during standard EST working hours.

    The Ideal Candidate will:

    • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to engage a diverse range of stakeholders.
    • Be a self-starter, take initiative and see projects through to completion.
    • Possess highly developed organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Have experience leading teams.
    • Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and willingness to learn various online platforms (Canva, Donorbox, Mailchimp, etc.).
    • Possess an optimistic outlook, strong work ethic and creative problem-solving skills.

    Occasional nights/weekends required (board & advisory council meetings are generally 7-8:30pm on a weekday, May event is usually on a Sunday, and tight deadlines may occasionally require weekend work). The above responsibilities are representative of the overall role, your specific duties week-to-week will change depending on the program cycle, grant deadlines, etc. The Chair of the Board will be available to support the ED determining priorities. We are a remote first organization; however, candidates in/near the DC-metro area with mental health and/or education expertise and nonprofit leadership strongly preferred.
