Position Summary
Part-Time, Hourly | 20–25 hours per week | $20-25/hour based on experience
Are you someone who believes young people have the power to shape the future of their communities? Have you seen challenges facing youth and wondered how we can equip young people with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to create meaningful change?
Then this position may be for you! This role is an opportunity to build youth power through political education, civic engagement, leadership development, and community organizing.
We're looking for a passionate, relationship-driven organizer who believes that young people are not just the leaders of tomorrow but should be leaders today. The ideal candidate is committed to helping youth develop into advocates and changemakers who can continue to build a Savannah-Chatham County where future generations can thrive.
The Youth Organizer will coordinate Deep Center's Youth Organizing efforts designed to build youth power, strengthen civic participation, and develop the next generation. The Youth Organizer will recruit, engage, and support high school and college-aged youth as they learn about social movements, public policy, systems of power, and strategies for fostering change in their communities.
Through workshops, discussions, advocacy projects, and leadership development opportunities, the Youth Organizer will help young people develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to participate in democracy, advocate for equitable policies, and mobilize others around issues affecting Savannah-Chatham County.
Aren’t sure if you meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that people from marginalized communities are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At Deep Center, we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and equity-driven workplace. So if you're excited about this role but your past experience doesn't align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
