    Lead daily operations in a welcoming recovery community

    Recovery Café is looking for an Operations Manager to help create a safe, welcoming, and supportive community rooted in radical hospitality. Reporting to the Director of Programs, this role supervises full-time and on-call floor staff in a union environment while also providing direct service to Members and Community Volunteers.

    This salaried exempt position is generally scheduled Monday–Friday, 8am – 4:30pm at our SODO location, with occasional variation based on program needs.

    This is a physically active, dynamic role for someone who enjoys solving problems, supporting people, and keeping daily operations running smoothly. The Operations Manager should be comfortable working with people experiencing substance use disorders, cognitive impairments, mental health challenges, and housing instability. Interruptions, de-escalation opportunities, and coordination with first responders may occur regularly.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Cultivate leadership by mentoring Members, staff, and Community Volunteers into deeper engagement and shared ownership of the Café community.
    • Create staff schedules that support smooth, welcoming, and reliable daily operations.
    • Maintain a clean, beautiful, and well-cared-for Café environment through thoughtful facility systems and maintenance coordination.
    • Guide and support kitchen staff in inventory, purchasing, food donations, preparation, and daily kitchen operations.
    • Oversee efficient, nourishing, and mission-aligned kitchen operations each day.
    • Manage inventory and purchasing with accuracy, care, and cost-conscious stewardship.
    • Complete required monthly food reporting with consistency and attention to detail.

    What You Bring to the Position

    • Three (3) years of recent supervisory experience in a social services environment; preferably supervising union-represented employees.
    • Experience in social services, addressing addiction and other mental health concerns
    • High School diploma or equivalent
    • Clear, professional communication skills, with the ability to represent Recovery Café warmly to Members, partner agencies, visitors, and community contacts in person, by phone, and by email.
    • Strong organizational skills, including time management, prioritization, and thoughtful team coordination.
    • Comfort using Microsoft Word and Excel, with the ability to become proficient in Recovery Café’s AGENCY database.
    • Valid Washington State driver’s license and safe driving record.
    • Washington State Food Handler’s Permit or ability to obtain one.
    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand or move on foot for extended periods.

    Nice to Have Qualifications

    • Drug/Alcohol Counseling experience or education in Human Services (e.g. Chemical Dependency)
    • Bi-lingual proficiency in Spanish and English
