Apex for Youth empowers underserved Asian and immigrant youth from low-income families in NYC to unlock their potential and a world of possibility. Through programming focusing on health and well-being, education, and community engagement, Apex for Youth creates transformative social connections and celebrates cultural identity to build the confidence and self-efficacy of future generations.
Apex serves approximately 2,000 students annually from Kindergarten through their post-secondary years. We provide children and young adults with opportunities to develop strong relationships with adults who volunteer as consistent and caring mentors and role models.
JOB OVERVIEW
Apex’s Athletic Department addresses the educational, physical, and social-emotional needs of youth from 4th grade -12th grade through team sports, sports clinics during school breaks, family nights, community events and other special opportunities. Our programs are led by the Athletics team, part-time facilitators, and dedicated volunteers who share a commitment to youth development.
This fall, Apex is seeking a dedicated Basketball Instructor to lead Saturday basketball programming for middle school youth. The instructor will work with students to develop fundamental basketball skills, teamwork, and love for the game, while also supporting youth development beyond the court.
The instructor will lead skill-building drills, structured gameplay, and team activities that emphasize confidence, discipline, and resilience. The program also aims to foster leadership, sportsmanship, and a sense of belonging for all participants.

Pay range: This role offers $30-35 per hour and would require 3-4 hours on Saturday afternoons and 2-3 hours during the week. This position will run from October 18th to May 9th with 18 Saturday sessions held during that time. Additional hours for training and prep will be required and paid. Please see our session dates below (tentative to change).
