Food & Water Watch is working to stop data centers in Rockland and Westchester counties, and around New York State. We are building a team of door-to-door canvassers to knock on 30,000 doors, holding thousands of conversations with residents about standing up to Big Tech!

This position reports to the Stop Data Centers Canvass Director. Canvassers must be able to commit to at least 2 days of canvassing per week. The position is temporary, starting ASAP and running through November 3.

Making this happen requires involving people in the pressing issues of our time at the local, state, and federal level, building on one win after another, as we develop a larger movement that has the political power to make our democratic process work.

About the position:

The Stop Data Centers Canvasser will report to the Stop Data Centers Canvass Director to help our outreach team knock on 30,000 doors this fall. This is a contractor position running through November 3, 2026.

Salary: $27/hr, with mileage reimbursement of $0.76/mile

Location: Westchester and Rockland Counties

Responsibilities:

1. Knock on dozens of doors every day
2. Talk with community members about our issues and our supported candidates
3. Log data in our outreach tool
4. Collect petition signatures to advance our key issues

Required Qualifications:

• Passion for environmental issues and our endorsed candidates
• Great verbal communication skills

Compensation: $27/hr, with mileage reimbursement of $0.76/mile
