The Staff Accountant plays a pivotal role in supporting the Finance department in managing the Museum’s fiscal activities. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Staff Accountant is primarily responsible for the payables function outlined below, while providing critical support in other areas.
The role requires a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in non-profit accounting, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to clearly communicate financial information to stakeholders inside and outside of the organization.

The Staff Accountant is a full-time, hybrid position and is located in The Noguchi Museum in Long Island City, Queens. There are three mandatory in person days including Wednesday and Thursday with a third day to be determined in coordination with the Finance Director. New hires are expected to be in person more frequently during the initial 90 day probationary period. The hours are 5 days a week, 9 am–5 pm, Monday– Friday. The position requires occasional work outside regular hours. Work is performed in an office environment; prolonged periods of sitting, use of computers and standard office equipment are required to accomplish work objectives.

Compensation
Salary is $73,000 – 77,500 per year (commensurate on experience) and benefits include a generous health insurance program, including medical, dental, and vision, pre-tax commuter benefits, a 403(b) retirement savings plan with employer contribution and match after a year of employment, and generous paid time off, as well as other benefits.
