The Financial Manager will be an integral part of the self managing leadership team that oversees all operations of Camp Unirondack, in collaboration with and under the oversight of the Board of Directors. In particular, the Financial Manager will be responsible for tasks and decisions relating to Unirondack's non-profit business administration, legal compliance, finances, contracts and business elements required to execute its mission.
Minimum Qualifications:
The Financial Manager will be thoroughly committed to Unirondack’s mission. Concrete demonstrable experience and other qualifications include:
- 2 years of senior management experience of a small-to-medium size, community serving non-profit organization that had a programmatic focus such as a summer camp or similar non-profit organization.
- Experience using Quickbooks for payroll administration, bookkeeping, and staff onboarding.
- Experience working collaboratively on a team using consensus building techniques in the decision making process.
- Experience overseeing service contracts with external consultants (e.g., bookkeeping, fundraising, or communications).
- Understanding of non-profit budgeting and reporting to collaborate effectively with a bookkeeping service.
- Experience in organizational management with the ability to design policies and procedures that help executive staff do business-operational tasks successfully.
- Past success working collaboratively with a Board of Directors, with the ability to cultivate existing board member relationships.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.
- A commitment to youth empowerment, a commitment to social justice values, compassion in daily interactions, and the development of an accepting and welcoming community.
- Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.

- This will be a remote position but should be able to attend the Annual Meeting in person at Unirondack.
Primary Responsibilities:
Non-Profit Compliance:
- Ensure the timely review and submission of governmental reports and compliance documentation.
- With input from the Board and Executive Staff, develop and/or review existing policies and procedures needed to be compliant with government requirements.
Financial Oversight:
- Oversee the financial and business elements of the corporation in collaboration with the Finance Committee and other Executive Staff members.
- Serve on the Finance Committee that consists of the Board President, Treasurer and interested community members.
- Responsible for developing an annual and 3 year projection budget that ensures alignment with program and strategic goals. Development of the budget will be in collaboration with the Finance Committee and other Executive Staff members. Submit budgets to the Board for their approval.
- Hire and manage a bookkeeper and accountant professionals to ensure accurate financial records, completion of account reviews and/or audits, the filing of federal and state financial statements and preparation of monthly cash flow and financial reports for Board review.
- Oversee all insurance related contracts and payments such as liability, disability, workman’s compensation and unemployment.
- Manage payroll payments, employee medical insurance expense reimbursements and employee tax documents.
- Develop and implement processes and procedures relating to tracking costs, registration payments, fundraising deposits and purchase reimbursements.
- Manage all checking, savings and purchase card accounts in consultation with the Finance Committee.
Fundraising:
- Work with the Fundraising Committee to support revenue-generating and fundraising activities, including the Foundation Campaign.
- Research and apply for relevant grant opportunities that could benefit camp.
- Assist in strategy development for communications and outreach.
- Provide reports and updates on fundraising outcomes to the Membership, Board, and other stakeholders.
