    Title: Program Coordinator

    Dates: September - December 2025, with option to continue as needed

    Number of Hours: M-F | 10-15 hours per week | Based in Bay Area, CA

    Wage: $20-25/hour

    About the Position:

    The Program Coordinator will play a vital role in the success of the Community Reading Buddies program in the Bay Area. The Program Coordinator will support the administration of CRB’s reading mentorship program, which is expected to serve upwards of 250 students over the course of the eight-week program. The individual in this position will collaborate with a variety of CRB team members to organize and facilitate high quality programming that closes the early literacy gap in the Bay Area.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Oversight of 2–4 virtual and/or in-person CRB tutoring sessions each week. This includes, but is not limited to:
      • Facilitating training and discussions for Youth Mentors before and after each reading session
      • Communicating with parents/caregivers regarding student participation, attendance, and progress in reading
      • Co-supervising reading sessions (virtual and in-person) with additional CRB staff
      • Sending email and text reminders to participants before/after sessions and throughout the program
      • Following up with and documenting absent participants and student engagement and progress during sessions
    • Troubleshoot technical issues during sessions
      • Learning tech fixes for different digital platforms to help troubleshoot issues via Zoom during sessions
      • Willingness to problem-solve in the moment if tech is uncooperative
    • Relationship management with a wide variety of stakeholders, including:
      • Building strong relationships with Youth Mentors by engaging in frequent communication, sending session reminders, answering questions about scheduling and other issues, and providing support, coaching, and encouragement
      • Partnering with parents and families of students as a representative of CRB
    • Resource creation and knowledge management:
      • Collaborating with the CRB team to identify additional literacy resources and implement best practices among Youth Mentors
      • Creating and updating Youth Mentor training as needed
      • Synthesizing key programmatic elements to update program materials on an ongoing basis
    • Monitoring and program evaluation:
      • Reporting out progress for each CRB reading session to program manager at weekly team meetings
      • Collecting and analyzing program data (i.e., pre- and post-program surveys, feedback forms, reading session data, etc) to further refine programmatic offerings
    • Event planning and coordination:
      • Managing logistics for occasional in-person events
      • Attending in-person events and helping run them
    • Administrative work:
      • Data entry, document and file updates, and email correspondence as needed
    • Other duties as assigned

    Requirements:

    • Passion for reading and literacy development
    • Passion for youth development
    • Experience working with students and young people
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders in a collaborative team environment
    • Ability to lead and train groups of people; comfortability with public speaking
    • Familiarity with Zoom and Google Suite; willingness to learn other tech platforms
    • Located in Bay Area, CA with ability to complete hybrid work as needed, both virtually and on-site in Oakland and/or Richmond
    • Ability to work part-time; particular preference for candidates who have availability Monday through Thursday in the afternoons and early evenings
