    Position Overview:

    The Manager, Finance supports all areas of Matriculate’s financial administration, including, but not limited to, day-to-day financial operations, monthly financial close, policies and procedures, staff training, budget development, and year-end close. The position reports to the Managing Director, Business Administration and works collaboratively across the organization to support all staff in financial procedures as part of the Business Administration team. This is a full-time exempt position with a competitive salary and benefits package.

    Position Duties and Responsibilities:

    Finance:

    • Lead monthly financial close; ensure accurate expense and revenue reporting with coding through accounting software. Completing necessary accounting entries and reconciliation in cooperation with the outsourced accounting vendor.
    • Process all payments including donation deposits, vendor invoices, staff reimbursements, and other accounts payable in bill.com.
    • Manage and final approve employee expense reports through Expensify.
    • Complete bi-monthly payroll entry process and journal entries.
    • Prepare the cross functional departmental monthly financial reports with analysis as compared to budget.
    • Assist with year-end close for audit, 990 preparations, and necessary tax documents (1099’s).
    • Support revision of financial processes to increase efficiency and controls, and regulatory compliance including updating guidance documents for financial policies and procedures.
    • Serve as a cross-functional liaison to resolve accounting discrepancies and enforce consistent and timely financial practices across the organization.
    • Support the Matriculate annual planning and budgeting process.
    • Develop and facilitate staff training on financial responsibilities and practices.
    • Onboard and train new employees to finance systems
    • Manage the process and files for outsourced consultants and contracts.
    • Assist in the relationship for insurance coverage for Matriculate.

    Candidate Qualifications:

    • Ability to effectively and meticulously organize and analyze financial data.
    • Strong understanding of GAAP principles for a nonprofit.
    • Ability to research and resolve finance issues.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills necessary to build relationships and collaborate in a diverse and dynamic team environment.
    • Excellent judgment and impeccable integrity.

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field preferred.
    • At least 2 years’ experience working in Finance or Accounting
    • Excellent command of Excel and remote communications methods.
    • Previous Quickbooks or Sage Intact experience preferred.

    Location:

    We have a flexible, hybrid model for NYC-based staff. Employees in other areas are fully remote.

    Compensation:

    Salary range of $75,750 – 81,300 commensurate with experience. This is accompanied by a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, vision, and dental plans; 10 paid holidays and December 25th through January 1st; generous PTO; a flexible work schedule and remote work opportunities; professional development and personal growth opportunities; etc.
