    Research Assistant

    Middle East Program – Palestine/Israel Projects

    The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a renowned international affairs institution, seeks a full-time research assistant to support its Washington, DC based Middle East program. This is a one-year position.

    The selected candidate will support research on conflict resolution models and civil society participation in building a durable just peace. The work involves research and writing, project management, and coordinating the writing of project participants. The Research Assistant will work closely with and support the research of our leading scholars in the Program focusing on Palestine/Israel conflict resolution.

    Candidates should have demonstrated knowledge of relevant areas, including Middle East peace efforts, U.S. policy toward the MENA region, Palestinian-Israeli negotiations, and human rights concerns associated therewith. Additionally, candidates should have strong analytical and writing skills with the ability to synthesize complex technical material, a strong sense of professionalism and capacity to engage respectfully with diverse audiences, familiarity with AI or machine-learning methods applied to social, environmental, or policy data, and experience working with complicated datasets. Candidates must also be able to meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced work environment, write clearly and synthesize complicated concepts, and adopt a hands-on approach to working in a collaborative environment.

    Strong candidates will have spent some time during their academic training in the region, have good working knowledge of Arabic, and demonstrated experience working among marginalized populations and on qualitative research. They should also have experience translating data into compelling visualizations (e.g., use of Flourish and PowerPoint.).

    Located in Dupont Circle, we offer an outstanding work environment and generous benefits, including health insurance. The anticipated salary range for this position is $50,000 - $52,000. Please note that this position will operate on a hybrid basis, requiring in-office work on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
