POGO is looking for a Social Media Editor to help us grow our audience and build community around our investigative journalism. You will be responsible for managing our social media presence, creating engaging content, and driving traffic to our investigations.
About the role
As the Social Media Editor for POGO Investigates, you will be the voice of our investigative team on social platforms. You will work closely with our reporters and editors to translate complex investigative stories into compelling social-first content. Your goal is to make our work accessible, shareable, and impactful.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop and execute social media strategies to increase reach and engagement for POGO Investigates.
- Create, edit, and publish content across platforms (Twitter/X, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, etc.).
- Monitor social media trends and identify opportunities for Pogo to join the conversation.
- Engage with our community, respond to comments, and foster meaningful discussions.
- Analyze social media metrics to track performance and inform future strategy.
- Collaborate with the editorial team to ensure social content is accurate and aligns with our journalistic standards.
Required Qualifications
- Three years of experience in social media management in a news or media environment.
- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to distill complex information into clear, engaging social copy.
- Experience with video editing tools (e.g., Adobe Premiere, CapCut) and graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Express).
- Deep understanding of social media algorithms and best practices for different platforms.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Passion for investigative journalism and a commitment to Pogo's mission.
Compensación
This position is eligible for remote work from anywhere within the United States provided you are available during POGO's working hours of 9AM-6PM EST.
This is a full-time, non-exempt, at will position. This position is grant funded for a period of one year and continued employment is contingent upon the receipt of direct grant funds. This position includes the listed benefits:
- Competitive nonprofit salary commensurate with experience in the range of $74K - $80K annually
