    Descripción

The U.S. Center for Mental Health and Sport (USC-MHS) (501c3) is dedicated to advancing the mental health and well-being of athletes, coaches, and sports communities across the country. By integrating mental health education into sports environments, we work to reduce stigma around mental health, increase access to resources, and equip leaders with the tools to support those they serve. Through training programs, targeted mission driven partnerships, and community engagement, USC-MHS is building a national network that promotes healthier, more supportive athletic communities at all levels of sport.

THE JOB: The Development Associate VISTA will strengthen USC-MHS by building sustainable systems in fundraising, communications, and program delivery. The VISTA will play a key role in increasing our scale and reach and our ability to partner with nonprofits to improve access to mental health education and resources in low-income communities across the country. We are seeking candidates who are passionate about mental health, sports, and social impact, with strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Experience or interest in fundraising, social media and marketing, program development, or digital content creation is preferred. Ideal candidates are self-starters who can manage multiple projects and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders while helping to grow the organization and our reach. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit development while making a tangible impact on mental health in sport environments. VISTA members will build valuable professional skills, expand their network within sport, and contribute to scalable solutions that continue to serve communities long after their service year.

Member Duties : The VISTA at the U.S. Center for Mental Health and Sport will serve as part of the 2026-2027 Coach Across America VISTA cohort of 64 members. The Development VISTA will increase leveraged resources by supporting the development of programs and partnerships in building the foundation and scaling of opportunities. The VISTA will accomplish this by strengthening fundraising, communications/social media, and program infrastructure. Responsibilities include expanding donor outreach, supporting fundraising campaigns, securing corporate sponsorships, assisting with grant writing, and helping plan community fundraising events. The VISTA will also grow social media by creating consistent content, collaborating with athlete ambassadors, and managing a content calendar to increase engagement and reach. Additionally, the VISTA will help refine the instructor training program by updating training materials, enhancing the LMS platform, and on-boarding instructors to build a national network.
