Down Home North Carolina (DHNC) is seeking a full-time Deputy Organizing Director to build, support, and train a regional network of member-led Down Home chapters across the state. The Deputy Organizing Director will support this effort through the management and development of organizing staff, integrating and designing organizing data systems, by building out network-wide organizing programs, and by working to coach and train member-leaders.
The Deputy Organizing director will supervise and manage one or more Statewide Organizing Managers, a Data Organizer, and one or more organizers as part of this strategy.
The ideal candidate is highly motivated to build and develop new leaders, and to win power for poor and working people. They are adept at staff management and accountability, and able to motivate and coach staff toward organizing goals. They are curious about the use of data in organizing, and comfortable with diagnosing organizing challenges and opportunities through the use of data. They are a seasoned organizer, and are experts in the craft of organizing, base-building, and recruitment. They are familiar with and able to train others on core organizing and issue campaigning skills and principles. They are goal-oriented with a high degree of personal organization, and enjoy making and executing detailed plans.
Previous experience managing organizing teams, projects, or departments is required. They are an effective communicator and eagerly collaborate with others. Experience running canvasses, electoral field operations, and issue campaigns is desirable. Candidates with experience organizing in rural, and/or southern contexts are preferred.

Some irregular hours are required, including nights and weekends. Work location is flexible within North Carolina. Please note that a significant portion of work will be in person. Applicants must be able and willing to travel regularly for work.
Compensation for this full-time staff position is determined by the candidate’s level of experience and
ranges between $90,000 and $105,000 annually, including best-in-class health coverage, retirement, sick, vacation, annual COLA raises, and other benefits. This position is not eligible for inclusion in the staff bargaining unit.
