Community Legal Services (CLS) is seeking a Staff Attorney to join our Family Advocacy Unit (FAU)!
This is an opportunity to advocate for parents, support families, and work toward positive change within Philadelphia’s child welfare system.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
⚖️ Provide high-quality courtroom representation to parents
🤝 Work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team
📣 Engage in policy, administrative, and legislative advocacy
🎓 Participate in community and professional education
💪 Advocate for racial justice and systemic change
We’re looking for someone with:
- 2 years of litigation experience preferred; clinic or moot court experience may be considered for outstanding candidates
- Excellent oral advocacy, legal research, and writing skills
- Experience working with clients from diverse backgrounds
- A strong commitment to public interest work
- Excellent communication, organization, networking, and relationship-building skills
- Sound professional and legal judgment
Experience with child welfare or family law is preferred but not required. Fluency in another language is a plus!
💰 Starting salary: $65,000 for newly admitted attorneys, with increases based on relevant experience, plus a competitive benefits package including employer-paid medical coverage, retirement contributions, paid holidays, and generous leave.
