At the Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County (Legal Aid SMC), we use the law to ensure that the social safety net works for everyone. We do this by representing clients as they navigate complex legal systems, empowering people to advocate for themselves, and fixing broken systems through policy change.
Legal Aid SMC seeks a dynamic and organized person to support the Elder Rights team in working to protect the rights of older adults and adults with disabilities. We represent clients in a diverse range of settings, including the Social Security Administration, probate court, and CARE court, which is a new court focused on addressing the treatment and services needs of people with mental health disorders. We’re looking for a highly motivated, energetic self-starter who cares about customer satisfaction, enjoys collaborating with community partners, and wants to provide direct services for a diverse low-income client population. The right candidate can juggle multiple responsibilities, work efficiently and compassionately, and use systems to organize data. They will be comfortable taking the initiative on projects but will also enjoy supporting the attorneys’ work.
Legal Aid SMC seeks candidates who share our aspirations for a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace. We are committed to affirming differences in race, color, religion, national or ethnic origin, age, disability, sexual orientation, and gender identity and expression.
