    Descripción

We seek a collaborative scholar in environmental health and justice to join Silent Spring as a research fellow. The position is funded by a private foundation and is open rank so investigators with any level of experience and any disciplinary focus in environmental justice may apply. The initial fellowship is for 12 months and may be renewable. This is a terrific opportunity to build a new research partnership focused on documenting environmental health disparities – particularly related to chemical exposures - and identifying actionable paths to justice. The fellow will join Silent Spring’s research team for one year to carry out the project, and will receive salary (commensurate with experience), benefits (e.g., health insurance, paid time off, professional development support) and institutional support (e.g. computer and software, email, office space) during this period.

    Fellow requirements:

    • Record of environmental health and justice research success (e.g. community work, published peer-reviewed scientific papers, academic grants)
    • A proposal for a one-year research project that describes anticipated goals of the fellowship
    • Readiness to begin the one-year fellowship sometime before March 2026

About Silent Spring Institute: Founded in 1994, Silent Spring Institute is the leading scientific research organization dedicated to uncovering the links between chemicals in our everyday environment and women’s health. We are a collaborative multi-disciplinary team with expertise in exposure science, epidemiology, toxicology, chemistry, social science, and communications. We lead studies funded by the National Institutes of Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Environmental Protection Agency, and other federal agencies and collaborate with investigators at Harvard, UC Berkeley, Brown, and elsewhere. This fellowship is supported by a grant from the Broad Reach Foundation.

Silent Spring Institute is an equal opportunity employer. We do not discriminate on the basis of actual or perceived race, religion, color, national origin, gender identification, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor an employment visa.

    To apply:

Applicants should send the following materials to careers@silentspring.org with “EJ fellow 2025” in the subject line.

    • Cover letter that explains why you are interested and qualified for the position.
    • A ~1 page description of your research idea that explains how it builds on your current skills and accomplishments and how it intersects with staff expertise, active research, and the mission at Silent Spring Institute.
    • C.V.

Finalists will be asked to provide references and additional materials.
