    The Forward is hiring a full-time Member Engagement Coordinator to join our growing membership team.

    This is an exciting opportunity for someone who loves connecting with people, is energized by mission-driven work, and wants to interact with our audience and help grow membership and revenue for one of the most influential Jewish media organizations in the country.

    The Membership Engagement Coordinator plays an important role in supporting and growing our membership program by delivering excellent customer service, driving member engagement and retention, and managing day-to-day membership operations.

    This position serves as a primary point of contact for members and supporters, helping ensure a positive experience across donations, newsletters, events, and member communications. The coordinator will also support membership campaigns, maintain accurate donor records, assist with reporting, and collaborate across teams to strengthen audience engagement and retention.

    Responsibilities

    Membership & Customer Service

    • Respond to member and donor inquiries via email, phone, and web forms in a timely and professional manner
    • Assist supporters with donations, recurring gifts, account updates, renewals, and membership questions
    • Troubleshoot member access and newsletter subscription issues
    • Help maintain a positive and welcoming experience for members and supporters

    Membership Operations

    • Maintain and update member and donor records in Salesforce
    • Process donations, acknowledgments, and recurring gift updates
    • Assist with membership fulfillment and donor acknowledgment processes
    • Support data cleanup and reporting projects

    Member Engagement & Retention

    • Support membership renewal and retention campaigns
    • Assist with onboarding communications for new members
    • Help execute email campaigns, newsletters, and engagement initiatives
    • Coordinate member benefit fulfillment and engagement opportunities
    • Gather and organize member feedback and insights

    Events & Community Engagement

    • Assist with planning and coordination of member events, webinars, and community programs
    • Support event communications, registrations, and attendee follow-up
    • Help strengthen relationships between members and the organization
    • Attend in-person and host virtual events

    Qualifications

    • 1+ years of experience in customer service, nonprofit membership, fundraising, audience engagement, or administrative support
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
    • Comfortable working with databases and spreadsheets
    • Experience with Salesforce or CRM systems preferred
    • Experience with email platforms such as Mailchimp, Beehiiv, or similar platforms is a plus
    • Knowledge of the Jewish community and a passion for our mission

    Compensation & Benefits

    The Membership Engagement Coordinator will be a member of the News Guild with a salary range of $55,000 to $62,000, depending on experience. The position will report to the Director of Production and Newsletters and work closely with the Deputy Director, Audience.

    The Forward’s office is in New York City, and this is a hybrid position that requires time in the office each week.
