    Job Summary

    The Program Manager oversees and executes Respite Care Atlanta’s (RCA) core programs for older adults living with cognitive challenges and their caregivers, including the weekday Club RCA day program, the Saturday Senior Program, and caregiver support groups. This highly collaborative role works closely with the Executive Director, Program Assistant, and volunteers to create safe, meaningful, and enriching experiences for participants and caregivers.

    Responsibilities

    Program Management

    Plan, coordinate, and carry out weekly Club RCA programs and the monthly Saturday Senior Program.

    • Engage directly with participants, fostering meaningful, respectful, and appropriate interactions.
    • Supervise and support volunteers and the Program Assistant during program days, modeling positive engagement and mentoring.
    • Provide ongoing education and guidance for volunteers on dementia, including best practices for supporting individuals with cognitive decline.
    • Be present and work one Saturday per month, typically the first Saturday, for the Saturday Senior Program.

    Support Groups & Caregiver Engagement

    • Recruit and support participants for caregiver support groups.
    • Coordinate with facilitators and enforce group guidelines.
    • Contribute content for a bi-monthly caregiver resource newsletter.

    Collaboration & Teamwork

    • Directly supervise the Program Assistant, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
    • Partner with the Development & Admin Manager on program-related administrative tasks and volunteer onboarding.
    • Work closely with the Executive Director, who is actively involved in programming and participant engagement.
    • Contribute ideas and feedback as part of a small, collaborative staff team.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Gerontology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Alzheimer’s/dementia care, senior recreation programming, or program management.
    • Certification in CPR and First Aid (required before start date).
    • Physically able to assist participants, set up activities, and ability to stand and walk for the duration of the 4-hour program.
    • Experience supervising staff or volunteers and delegating responsibilities effectively.
    • Proficiency with computers and technology, including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and basic databases.

    Skills

    • Strong collaboration skills and comfort working closely with the Executive Director and other staff.
    • Ability to organize, manage, and inspire volunteers effectively.
    • Knowledge of dementia, Parkinson’s disease, and other conditions causing cognitive challenges.
    • Ability to develop creative, engaging, and cognitively enriching programming.
    • Strong communication skills with caregivers, participants, volunteers, and staff.
    • Sensitivity to diverse spiritual beliefs and commitment to inclusive programming.
    • Flexibility and openness to feedback; ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-centered environment.
