    Municipal Solar Partners is a non-profit solar development firm dedicated to partnering with municipalities across the country to build municipally owned projects that maximize benefits to the community.     About The Role

    MSP is seeking to hire a Solar Project Coordinator to support our development team with all aspects of the development process. The Solar Project Coordinator will work closely with experienced solar developers to produce crucial insights into project feasibility, collaborate directly with municipal partners, track project progress, and research local regulations and policies impacting projects. This is an ideal role for someone with a passion for public ownership of energy who is seeking to build their experience in the renewable energy development field.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Project Development (50%)
      • Conduct initial site feasibility analysis using Paces software. The Solar Project Coordinator will estimate system size, analyze local hosting capacity, and review current land use and environmental factors to assess site feasibility.
      • Contribute to the development of financial models and project pro formas. The Solar Project Coordinator will collect necessary data from municipalities and produce financial models to assess project feasibility and prepare projects for financing.
      • Manage project administration including contracts, invoices, and payments. This includes developing a tracker for deliverables and billing and attending meetings with consultants to maintain the tracker.
      • Develop project timelines and track deadlines. This includes identifying relevant utility interconnection and permitting policies, and developing and maintaining a tracker to ensure projects are meeting their timelines.
    • Municipal Support (30%)
      • Attend meetings with municipal officials and track commitments and deliverables.
      • Interface with municipal officials to collect necessary project information. This includes taking notes on meetings with municipal officials and requesting documents from municipalities.
      • Support the drafting of project reports and presentations. The Solar Project Coordinator will support the MSP staff in drafting project feasibility reports, presentations to municipalities and organizational partners, and other documents.
    • Research (20%)
      • Research local energy markets, net-metering frameworks, permitting requirements, and other local policies.
      • Identify local grant and low-cost financing opportunities.

    Job Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree.
    • At least 1 year working in renewable energy development or equivalent experience. The ideal candidate will bring a basic understanding of the renewable energy development process, have a passion for energy development and policy, and be eager to develop and improve their skills.
    • Strong proficiency in Excel. The ideal candidate should be comfortable with Excel and able to quickly learn complex financial models. Knowledge of project finance, discounted cash flow (DCF) analysis, and advanced Excel functionality, including VBA, is a plus.
    • Demonstrated interest in publicly-owned renewables, non-profit renewable energy, or other community-benefit oriented energy work. The ideal candidate will have held jobs, participated in volunteer activities, or had educational experiences that demonstrate an interest in MSP’s mission.
    • Ability to stay organized while juggling many different projects at once. The ideal candidate will be able to track timelines, objectives, and progress across multiple projects, and can prioritize objectives across projects in order to meet their deliverables.
    • Strong teamwork mindset and an orientation towards collaboration. The ideal candidate will seek input from teammates when needed, ask questions, and enjoy working with others.
    • Self-motivation and a high level of attention to detail. The ideal candidate will be able to execute client-facing tasks without a high-degree of supervision. The ideal candidate will be thorough, have strong follow-through, and can be trusted to produce high-quality materials without review.

    Compensation

    This is a remote, full-time role. The Solar Project Coordinator will also be asked to attend in-person site visits and meetings when necessary. The salary range for this role is $75,000 to $85,000 depending on experience and need.
