About the Nevada Election Observation Network
The Nevada Election Observation Network (NEON) is a nonpartisan civic organization dedicated to increasing transparency, public confidence, and accountability in Nevada’s elections through impartial, citizen-based election observation. NEON works in collaboration with The Carter Center and in-state partners to support the development and implementation of nonpartisan election observation methodologies consistent with international best practices and U.S. legal frameworks.
Position Summary
NEON is seeking County Coordinators to lead election observation efforts and strengthen trust in the democratic process. This role is ideal for an organized, people-focused leader who wants to make a real impact during the upcoming election cycle. NEON is hiring one County Coordinator for each county in Nevada. County Coordinators are required to reside in the county for which they are hired and will work remotely apart from some in-person events and trainings. These positions will start as soon as possible and run through November 30, 2026, with possibilities for extension dependent on funding and performance. Job responsibilities include:
Participate in NEON (Nevada Election Observation Network) training, including
- In-person training in your region
- Online training about how to observe election processes, including voting machine certification, poll worker training, early voting observation, vote by mail tabulation for Nevada, election day observation, and election results certification).
- Co-lead trainings with Regional Coordinators, as needed
Recruit and support election observers:
- Hire observers in collaboration with your Regional Coordinator and project leads
- Initiate paperwork and contracts for observers
- Conduct every-other-week check-ins with regional coordinators and project leads
- Support observers to be ready to conduct observations
- Assign observers to polling places
Observation
- Identify date of your county’s election processes for the general elections; election processes include poll worker training, voting machine certification, and election results certification.
- Conduct observation of each election processes in your home county for the general election
- Recruit and assign observers to cover 50% of polling places on election day (November 3) during the general election
- Keep track of your observer’s readiness to observe: Update observer’s attendance at trainings, completion of paperwork, completion of training requirements.
- Act as a liaison between NEON and county election officials to obtain needed county-specific information (such as dates/times/locations for election processes)
- Submit monthly invoices that include a request for compensation and pre-approved reimbursables, pre-approved reimbursables include:
- Training Activities: In-person trainings in Nevada will include a travel stipend of $100, unless contractor’s mileage exceeds 142 miles, in which case actual mileage will be reimbursed at the federal rate of 70 cents per mile
- Observation Activities: In-person observations in your home county can be reimbursed at $200 per activity
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $500.00 flat fee per month
Compensación

- Some travel for in-state NEON team events may be included, with all expenses covered by the program.

English language proficiency required; fluency in Spanish or other relevant languages for your county is desirable.
