    JOB SUMMARY

    The International Economic Development Council (IEDC) is seeking a Curriculum Development Associate to support the Learning and Development Department in designing, developing, and delivering high-quality training programs and certifications to enhance the professional capabilities of economic developers worldwide. The Curriculum Development Associate will collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), leverage instructional design principles, and utilize various tools to develop synchronous and asynchronous training content for IEDC’s learning platforms.

    Essential Job Functions & Key Outcomes

    The Curriculum Development Associate will work closely with the Professional Development team to design, develop, and deliver training programs, certifications, and supporting materials that align with IEDC’s mission and stakeholder needs. This role combines instructional design expertise, content creation, and facilitation skills to ensure impactful learning experiences for economic development professionals.

    Key Areas of Responsibility

    • Design and develop engaging synchronous and asynchronous training content for IEDC’s learning platforms, using instructional design principles and tools such as Camtasia, Articulate, Canva, PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Suite, and Excel.
    • Conduct research to edit and refine training content, ensuring accuracy, relevance, and alignment with industry trends and organizational goals.
    • Collaborate with SMEs to gather insights, develop content, and ensure subject matter accuracy for training programs and certification exams.
    • Contribute to the creation, administration, and maintenance of certification exams, ensuring alignment with IEDC’s professional standards.
    • Facilitate synchronous and asynchronous training sessions, delivering engaging and interactive learning experiences for diverse audiences.
    • Create job aids, training documents, and other supporting materials to enhance learner comprehension and application.
    • Maintain and update department documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), course registrations, training certificates, to ensure consistency and accessibility.
    • Support marketing efforts for training courses, including creating promotional materials and collaborating with the marketing team to enhance course visibility.
    • Utilize process improvement methodologies to streamline training development and delivery processes.
    • Monitor the effectiveness of training programs and suggest data-driven improvements to enhance learner outcomes.
    • Ensure high-quality content delivery through rigorous attention to detail and adherence to IEDC’s standards.
    • Demonstrate a willingness to learn new tools, technologies, and methodologies to support evolving department needs.
    • Other duties as assigned or required.

    Education, Experience & Credentials

    Required qualifications

    Education & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Learning and Development, or a related field.
    • 2-4 years of relevant professional experience in instructional design, curriculum development, or a similar role.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • Proficiency in instructional design principles and adult learning theories.
    • Experience using tools such as Camtasia, Articulate, Canva, PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Excel for content creation and analysis.
    • Ability to conduct research to edit and refine training content, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
    • Experience working with SMEs to develop and validate training materials and certification exams.
    • Strong facilitation skills for delivering synchronous and asynchronous training sessions.
    • Ability to create engaging job aids, training documents, and promotional materials.
    • Knowledge of LMS platforms and experience uploading and managing training content.
    • Familiarity with process documentation and maintaining SOPs.
    • Strong analytical skills to assess training effectiveness and identify improvement opportunities.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present to diverse audiences.
    • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple projects independently and meet deadlines.
    • Collaborative mindset with a commitment to transparency and teamwork.
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Willingness to learn new tools and adapt to evolving department needs.

    SALARY & Benefits

    The expected salary for this position is between $66,200 - $83,200 based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and additional considerations.

    Working Conditions

    This position is eligible for remote work within the United States. Candidates within commuting distance of Washington, DC are considered local and have the option to work from IEDC’s offices. If not located within commuting distance of our Washington, DC office, candidates must be located in the United States, have reliable access to dedicated high-quality internet service, and be willing to accommodate an Eastern U.S. schedule of operations. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

    In addition, this position requires:

      • Occasional weekend and evening work
      • Some overnight, out-of-town travel (10-15%)
      • Occasional travel to the IEDC office

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to occasionally talk, hear, stoop, bend, kneel, frequently sit for extended periods of time; and continuously operate a computer and use manual dexterity for tasks such as keyboarding. The job requires occasional sedentary physical effort of lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs. The mental demands of the job include continuous comprehension, organizing and reading and writing; frequently engage in reasoning, decision making, and interpreting and analyzing data; and occasionally requires resilience.
